Match details
MCC played its 2nd 20-20 game Saturday versus Portland Cricket Club. Batting first, MCC got off to a cautious start being down 2 wickets at the end of 10 overs for 42 runs. And then the floodgates opened and MCC got 104 runs in the last 10 overs. Zafar Khan scored his 2nd consecutive 50 of the season and Paresh chipped in with a brisk 33 of 18 balls. 156 off of 20 overs on a wet outfield and consistent drizzle was going to be hard to get.
Portland lost two early wickets and were against the ropes but the ugly fielding, dropped catches and undisciplined bowling gave Portland the impetus they needed to chase the required runs. When the winning runs were scored in the 19th over, MCC had grassed 3 sitters, a few hard chances and about 20-25 runs through the legs and keepers gloves.
Next week, MCC takes on the formidable Beaverton Cricket Club which is 2-0 this season. PCC and MCC are 1-1 this season, with NWCC 0-2 this season.
