ScorecardMatch DetailsThe
game against PCC started about 30 minutes late due to damp on-field
conditions caused by a city truck that decided to water the field on a
day that was promising to one of the hottest this summer.
PCC
won the toss and decided to bat. Shuaib opened the bowling for MCC and
had PCC’s opener Brian clean bowled in the very first over. Miten was
equally impeccable with his length on the other end, and had the other
MCC opener Palitha meet with the same fate soon after. PCC struggled to
push their score as they were confronted with some very good bowling by
both Shuaib and Miten. At 41 for 4 after 10 overs, things were looking
quite good for MCC. However, PCC’s middle order batsmen consolidated
their inning thereafter with some good hitting, and were amply aided by
several wides and a few missed chances on the field. At 81 for 4 after
15 overs, PCC were looking in a much better position. Paresh got a
breakthrough soon after the break, and even though PCC continued to
lose wickets at regular intervals, their batsmen kept collecting runs
until they were all out in the final over for 162. The contribution of
wides was 54 runs! Roy and Sonu top scored for PCC with 29 runs each.
Miten was the most successful bowler for MCC who took 3 wickets for 23
runs, while Shuaib, Paresh and Nish took 2 wickets each.
Shuaib
and Prashant opened the innings for MCC. Prashant was first to go, LBW
to a ball that was full and straight. Lokesh and Shuaib consolidated
the inning for MCC until Lokesh was adjudged LBW. Shuaib and Alok
batted until the 15th over, with the score being 83 for 2. Shauib, who
played brilliantly for his 38 was bowled soon after the break. Paresh
came in next and played some good shots, but unfortunately was adjudged
LBW to a ball that nipped in. Sanjay and Alok soon departed trying to
force the run rate, bringing Nish and Miten to the crease. Both kept
MCC’s hopes alive until Miten departed at 123 for 7, leaving the
remaining batsmen to score about 40 runs in as many balls. Nish, who
played brilliantly for his 17 departed soon after that, and eventually,
MCC’s inning folded 17 runs short of target with more than an over to
spare.
