MCC News - 2008 season
General news
The Moon and Sixpence pub in the Hollywood district has been chosen as
the official pub for season 2008. We will be having bi-weekly
gatherings on Thursday nights prior to the season starting. Post games
gatherings will be held here each week also. More information will come
out as the next date approaches.
Dues for season 2008 will be $100. This is an increase from 2007 but
reflects the increase in fees for 2008 for the John Deere field rental.
These fees do include ball fees for 2008. Our fees are still easily the
lowest in the League.
- If you intend to play League cricket - full fees are due
- If you intend only to play social games (see information below) the fees are reduced to $40.
FEES ARE DUE BY APRIL 1, 2008 and should be sent to Steve Rodeman by
mail or in person at practice. You will not be selected to play until
you have paid your fees.
Please purchase whites for the season this year...the league will
apparently be instituting a whites mandatory rule for all games this
season.
CODE OF CONDUCT . There was
unanimous sentiment expressed for a much stronger stance against poor
conduct this year. We are not developing an exhaustive list of
infractions...rather it was decided that the Club president, captain
and vice captain will be responsible for making sure that things are
done the right way...put simply - if you use bad language in anger, in
the presence of women and children, dispute umpires decisions or
display poor sportsmanship towards other players...please EXPECT TO BE
SUSPENDED for games this year. The boys would like to see MCC take the
lead in being a positive, respectful and friendly club where all are
welcome at all times. Please also understand that this does not mean
the elimination of playful banter between players. If you drop catches,
score ducks or otherwise make a fool of yourself at any time..you will
get a bagging just as in years past..we just need to be mindful of the
diverse cultures and personalities at the club and be aware of the
boundaries.
