Simon Birkett
Simon was born in London, UK and is
married to Atom, who comes from Thailand.
I joined MCC to rekindle a love long lost living in Thailand where
cricket is hard to find. 17 years away from the game now seem
compressed as I play on a ground where Mount Hood and Mount St. Helens
are silent spectators.
I played for
Eltham College 2nd 11 for 6 years,
a company team at
Healey & Baker in London,
and for
Woodford Green 2nd 11 for two
seasons ending in 1990. I also played for the
British
Embassy against the Australian Embassy in Bangkok twice, and
have the dubious pleasure of taking the wicket of, and injuring
Richard Butler the Ambassador to
Thailand, and later Chairman of UNSCOM.
I look forward to promoting the spirit of the game of cricket and to
play an active role in its wider adoption in the USA. I am keen to
explore
indoor cricket in Oregon too - we
have plenty of good bars to co-locate with...
